This hour long, full-body workout class will improve both your strength and endurance. While all the classic strength and conditioning exercises that make boxers some of the fittest athletes in the world--running, jumping rope, calisthenics, medicine ball, etc.--will be included, this class will keep you on your toes with a variety of both traditional and modern/creative exercises that will be sure to keep things interesting and get you into peak condition. Whether you consider yourself out of shape and just want to get in better shape or you are already a serious athlete and want to take your conditioning to the next level, this class will get you there! In Shaping Up, everyone works at his or her own level and modifications will be offered for all fitness levels. However, everyone can expect to sweat and be challenged in this class!
Warrior Women is focused on strengthening and empowering women through boxing. Benefits of this class include increased strength, cardio, self-defense skills, and self-confidence. Class structure is similar to that of Boxing I. We start with a warm-up and boxing-related strength and conditioning exercises. The second half of the class is more focused of specific boxing skill sets. Women are welcome to attend any of our classes; however this class is exclusively for the ladies.
No Contact boxing
This hour-long boxing class is a great way for new boxers to get in shape and learn the fundamentals of boxing. USA Boxing certified coaches Clif Johnson and Emily Klinefelter are the instructors for this class. The first half of the class focuses of full body conditioning to adequately prepare your body for the rigors of boxing training. The second half of the class focuses on developing the fundamental offensive skills of boxing: punching and footwork. You are sure to get a great workout in this class and you can learn to hit the mitts and the bags like a pro without ever having to take a punch!
This hour-long boxing class, taught by Level II Certified USA Boxing Coach Clif Johnson, will get you in great shape and teach you the fundamentals of competitive boxing. Both beginners and competitive boxers train side by side while learning and perfecting all the different offensive and defensive skill sets of boxing. Class consists of strength and conditioning work, mitts, bag work, offensive and defensive drills, and sparring drills.
Muay Thai utilizes all kinds of striking, including punches, kicks, elbows, and knees. This hour-long class generally includes shadow boxing, Thai pad work, partner work, conditioning drills, and light sparring. No prior Muay Thai or martial arts experience is necessary to participate in this class.
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) utilizes the most real-life functional aspects of multiple different fighting disciplines including, Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. You will learn how to attack an opponent and defend yourself both standing and on the ground. This class is designed for students whose main interest is MMA. It's designed for both students whose goal is to fight and also for students that are not interested in fighting but still want to get the positive benefits of MMA training.
For those more interested in protecting themselves on the street than competing in the ring, the self defense class covers the four basic ranges (ground, grappling, striking, and weapons) from a combat rather than a sport perspective. Instead of focusing on a particular style or technique, the class emphasizes the principles and tactics that apply at any range. This allows students to adopt the appropriate response regardless of the situation.
